On January 22, Minister Li Ganjie of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, having just returned to Beijing from an overseas visit, immediately chaired a ministerial special meeting to convey and implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, earnestly implementing Premier Li Keqiang's instructions and the requirements of the State Council's executive meeting and the State Council's joint prevention and control mechanism video conference, and studying and deploying environmental protection work related to epidemic prevention and control.
The meeting pointed out that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council attach great importance to the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic. The ecological environment system should earnestly study, understand, and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and Premier Li Keqiang's requirements, effectively unifying thoughts and actions with the decisions and deployments of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, adhering to the development concept of putting people first, taking resolute and effective measures, and making every effort to actively cooperate in doing a good job in environmental protection work related to epidemic prevention and control.
The meeting emphasized that, as the Spring Festival is approaching, the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic is related to the life safety and health of the people, and to social stability. The ecological environment system should raise its political standing, earnestly perform its duties, and actively cooperate with relevant departments and localities in epidemic prevention and control. It is necessary to strengthen scheduling and coordination, highlight the key point of collecting and safely disposing of medical waste, promptly schedule and ascertain the capacity and operation of medical waste disposal facilities in epidemic areas, and fully guide, support, and supervise epidemic areas in doing a good job in the safe disposal of medical waste. It is necessary to strengthen organizational leadership, under the ministry's epidemic response working group and emergency work mechanism, relevant departments of the ministry's organs should severely implement responsibilities and ensure that measures are in place.
